The Foon Yew Girls' Basketball School Team in Johor Bahru is now entering its 43rd year as a cohesive unit! Despite the ongoing pandemic, the team remains proactive in discovering basketball talents and nurturing students' love for the sport. With a fervent passion for basketball, all 36 team members actively participate in various activities related to women's basketball. Even in the midst of the pandemic, with physical tournaments unable to proceed as usual, the players have been utilizing online practices to enhance their basketball skills. Whenever there's an opportunity to step onto the court and play together, the team members give their all, cherishing the moments of sweating it out together on the court.

After two years of online classes, the team members have transitioned from awkward dribbling exercises in front of the camera to being naturally comfortable, which is a unique experience for both the players and the coaches. The teachers and players engage in weekly discussions, envisioning scenarios where the knowledge gained can be applied on the court someday, eager for the chance to put their learning into practice and elevate their basketball skills. Everyone is still striving for the same goal, sharing the same dream, eager to perform their best on the basketball court, showcasing their learning, and giving a tangible account of all their efforts.

In mid-August 2021, the Malaysian Sports Council organized an online skill challenge. Although the format was different, everyone embraced this innovative way of competing and actively participated in the event. Standing in front of their own cameras, the team members showcased their best sides and completed their challenge videos. Four members of the team achieved excellent rankings within the top 20 in the state of Johor. One team member was selected to represent the Johor women's team and achieved a remarkable second place in the national team category. Regardless of victory or defeat, the players continue to work hard and strive for improvement. Those who received awards remain humble and committed to becoming even better.
